One of the most popular operas of all time, Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte returns to the GNO. Considered one of the most characteristic of the great composer’s works, it appeals on many levels. On the one hand it is an opera that can be enjoyed by children, while on the other adults appreciate the outstanding music and a symbolic text with implications.
This production, under the guidance of eminent French director Arnaud Bernard, was first presented at the Greek National Opera during artistic period 2010-2011 and was an enormous success. The artistic aesthetic of the performance managed to win over audience and critics alike.
Die Zauberflöte is the last of the 17 operas written by Mozart and shortly before his death he was able to conduct the orchestra at its premiere in Vienna on 30 September 1791.
Fraternity, liberty, love, the triumph of good, the seeking of virtue, the majesty of silence and the prevailing of truth are the values conveyed by the magnificent opera.
