Nafplio (Ναύπλιο) is a picturesque seaside town in the Peloponnese. Over the centuries, the city has changed hands from the Ionians to the Byzantines, to the Venetians, the Ottomans and back to the Greeks, and was the capital of the first H
ellenic Republic from the start of the Greek Revolution in 1821 until 1834. Heavily influenced by a Venetian architectural style, the city today remains a ‘photo-friendly’ destination and a beautiful scenic drive from Athens. Join XpatAthens for a fun day trip in and around Nafplio!
